Here's how you set your new account up in Outlook Express.
am not an expert of MAC so you need to find out how to set up a new mail
account on your MAC and fill in the info provided... In PC versions of
email programs, you will find similar ways to do the same thing.
Here's the long version of email setup. For those of you who are savvy
in computers, go on down the page to see the short version of email setup.
1. In Outlook Express, go to <tools>
<accounts>
Check to see which one is
your default email account.
Double click your default email
account...
Look at "E-mail
Address" and see what is written there. Write it down.
Click
"Servers". Look at Outgoing mail (SMTP).
Write this down.
2. Click "Cancel" then "Add"
then "Mail" and follow the directions for that window. This
should probably be something pertaining to your new cornflake.com
account.
3. Click "next". Write here the address
you wrote down earlier for "E-mail Address"
4. Click "next".
For Incoming mail... write - mail.cornflake.com .
For Outgoing mail... write the info you wrote down for Outgoing mail
(SMTP).
5. Click "next".
For Account name: write your user name. It is case specific.
For Password: write your password. The password is case specific so
write it exactly as it is.
6. Click "next" then "finish"
All Done!
If you want to fill in the optional account info, do the
following:
1. In <tools> <accounts>, double click your
NEW email account.
2. You can add an organization name of your choice under
"Organization". Under "Reply address", you
should write in a reply email address. This should be one of the NEW cornflake.com
addresses I gave you. Make sure the "Include this account" box
is checked. Finally... click "OK"
When you Send a new email address... at the top of your mail,
you will see From: <your default address>. If you want to send a Cornflake.com
email, you click the arrow to the right of "From:" and select the
new account you just made.
Here's the SHORT version:
Mail account: (anything name you want to identify your new account
to yourself )
Set user Info for this account...
Name: Anything you want to identify yourself to
your email recipients.
Organization: You name it...
Email Address : The email
address that is named in your old account in this same spot.
Reply : Whatever cornflake.com email
address you want recipients to reply to.
Incoming mail (POP3) : mail.cornflake.com
Outgoing mail (SMTP)
: Whatever it says in your old account in this same spot.
Account name : Your User
Name
Password : Your Password
(You can make this anything you want BUT you have to tell me. I have
to make the change.)
It works like this...
If you send a mail using the new account, it will be sent through your old
account server to whoever you sent it to with a return address you specified
on the account. When you check mail, it will check your user account
and send all that mail to you. The user name is connected to all your
aliases. So if someone uses your aliases, they will post to the user
name and you download those as well. In other words, you can tell
people to use any of your aliases and you will get them when you download
your normal account. You can also designate any of those addresses as
your "Reply address" in your account. You CANNOT change the
"Email address" section to anything but your original (default)
email address because most IPs will not allow what is called
"relay". Relaying is dangerous to the IP... Spam, hackers,
you know!
There you go...
Have fun...
Any questions... just let me know!
